Because of Him

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

I am a sinner. You are a sinner. We are all sinners. We were the ones who were supposed to be persecuted, beaten, tortured and nailed unto the cross. But one man took our place. He was mocked. He was beaten to pieces, he bled, and he was tortured. They chose to release a criminal instead of him. They yelled: “Crucify him!” “Crucify him!” He was a king, yet they treated him like a complete felon. Jesus didn’t have to die on the cross. Yet he did, because he was completely in love with us. His love for us was far greater.

“But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5

He died willingly. A man who did no sin, a man who was perfect, took our sins on his shoulders and nailed them unto the cross. Love came down and rescued us. He bore the cross and he wore the crown of thorns for us. He said: “It is finished.” That’s just how much God loves us!

“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

But wait there is good news! He conquered death! He made a way to eternity! Now, through him we are saved. Because of him, we now live a life full of purpose, hope and joy. We are now sinners saved by grace. Our chains have been broken. We are set free.

Words can’t explain how grateful I am for what He did!

 It’s important to celebrate not only on Easter but every day, what Jesus did for us on the cross at Calvary.

 “O death, where is your victory?
    O death, where is your sting?”
1 Corinthians 15:55
